Back in the day, Kurt was one of the guys that would trudge off to work, make the best of what was offered and then head out for a few beers after work. Likeable and full of humor, it was easy to see how this could have been a lifestyle that lasted -- but it didn't.
Over time it became obvious that Kurt von Ahnen was a different kind of automotive professional. He established relationships with managers, owners, techs and clients alike. His CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) was always higher than average and Sales were always competitive with the top writers and managers in the business.
With a passion for writing that took him to many professional racing events, Kurt decided to put his ways onto the printed page. The result is "Service Writing in Black and White".
The Meat of the Bio...
Born in the late sixties, to a young couple, Kurt is the oldest of two children. His younger sister, Kimberly, tracks 6-years behind him. His parents led a turbulent life and split up after his sister was born. This put Kurt into an implied supervisory role at a very young age. He learned to cook, clean and be responsible for others, while his mother was off working double shifts to aleviate the financial stresses of a deadbeat father. While some may say this is a boo-hoo story... Mr. von Ahnen credits his mother for building Kurt into the person he is today.
His sister made it on to college and with her degree is doing very well in corporate sales. While the rest of the family maintains residence on the east coast, where Kurt was raised, Kurt made his way west. Always a job-hopper of sorts, Kurt wondered what his true calling would be. Finally, it came to him that all this experience at different marks had to be for a reason - hence the book.
Interests
Beyond this work, Kurt is also working on a book pointed at the Multi-level Marketing Business segment. Having retired from professional motorcycle roadracing, motorcycles are still a big part of his life. He continues to maintain Vonconcepts Performance Magazine, and rides himself. Although most riding nowadays is spent in the desert on his modest Honda CR125.
